If I am already a certified Firefighter, will I have to go through firefighting training?

Yes, all San Marcos Fire Department recruits are required to complete eight weeks of an 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. probationary mini-academy. Successful completion of the mini-academy will result in placement on one of 3 shifts (A, B, or C) where the recruit will then complete a year-long probation from date of hire.
