Final Workforce Housing Task Force Meeting

Thursday, September 12 @ San Marcos Activity Center from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.


The City of San Marcos Workforce Housing Task Force will present their Final Strategic Housing Action Plan at a meeting on Thursday, Sept. 12, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the San Marcos Activity Center, 501 E. Hopkins St. The is the final meeting of the Workforce Housing Task Force and it is open to the public.

The plan incorporates feedback from 15 Task Force meetings and working groups, and two open house events. The total citizen participation in the plan includes 749 individuals through community conversations with over 38 different organizations, as well as 200 written comments and 100 stories from the community. The Action Plan includes four goals, six strategies, and 23 actions to address housing needs in San Marcos.


The Planning and Zoning Commission will make a recommendation on the action plan on Sept. 24 with final consideration of the plan by City Council on Oct. 15. The Final Strategic Housing Action Plan can be viewed at www.sanmarcostx.gov/smtx4all.

As the Workforce Housing Task Force holds it's final meeting, we want to thank the Task Force and all who participated in the SMTX 4 All housing Initiative for their hard work and for elevating the conversation around housing in our community to say that housing is for all.

The Strategic Housing Action Plan is an essential step towards addressing safe, quality, and affordable housing in our community. The Housing Action Plan is not a finishing line, but is a plan for us to constantly work towards. It requires working together, and using many different approaches. The Strategic Housing Action Plan serves as a toolbox of ideas and strategies to guide housing programs and initiatives for years to come.
