The challenge was in memory of fallen San Marcos police officer, Kenneth Copeland. Eight San Marcos Fire Department personnel, Captains Justin Calhoun, Brian Quackenbush, Engineer Jonathan Pakula, and Firefighters Tanner McLean, Ross Garman, Benjamin Hatley, Wesley Keathley, and Billy Mullins, participated in the 1st Annual Ken Copeland Fitness Challenge. They took home the silver and bronze medals for the overall event. Other teams were from the San Marcos Police Department and Texas Department of Public Safety officers.
