[ARCHIVED] Community Backpack Giveaway Scheduled for August 29

Backpack Giveaway 8.29

The City of San Marcos’ Parks and Recreation Department’s Youth Services Division and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Phi Xi Omega Chapter will host a community backpack giveaway and school supply drive on Saturday, Aug. 29. The event will be located in the San Marcos Activity Center’s parking lot, 501 East Hopkins St.

Free backpacks with school supplies will be available from 8:30-10:30 a.m. while supplies last. Backpacks are limited and will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. A limit of two per vehicle will be enforced.

This will be a drive-thru event and participants must stay in their vehicle at all times. Staff and volunteers will be wearing masks and attendees are asked to wear one as well during any interaction.
