Two men are facing charges from both the San Marcos and New Braunfels Police Departments after stealing two vehicles and evading officers. At approximately 7:44 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 26, the San Marcos Police Department received notification from the New Braunfels Police Department that their officers were following two stolen Dodge Durango vehicles northbound on IH-35. The two vehicles entered into the San Marcos jurisdiction shortly thereafter.
San Marcos police spotted both vehicles on IH-35 near the Centerpoint and McCarty exits. Once officers began to catch up to the suspects, both vehicles exited at Wonder World Drive. One vehicle driven by Donte Williams (10/14/1995) turned right onto Wonder World and then left onto Leah Avenue. Williams cut through an open field and crashed the vehicle through a privacy fence at the Palazzo Apartments. Williams exited the vehicle and attempted to run on foot before being detained by SMPD officers. Upon arrest, officers located a loaded .38 caliber revolver on Williams’ person.
The second vehicle, driven by Timothy Thompson (4/12/1997) exited Wonder World and immediately careened onto the grass median near Chick-fil-A. Thompson then exited the vehicle and attempted to run on foot before being detained by SMPD officers.
Both vehicles and suspects were released to the NBPD. Charges are pending for both Thompson and Williams for the offenses occurring within San Marcos. Those charges include evading by motor vehicle, and evading on foot. Due to Williams having a warrant out of Houston for aggravated robbery, he will be facing an additional charge of unlawfully carrying a weapon.
