eBooks & eAudiobooks
Download eBooks and eAudiobooks from Overdrive Media. The library has contracted with OverDrive Media and joined a consortium of Central Texas libraries to offer eBooks and eAudiobooks to our patrons free of charge. Set up your account and enter your library card number under My Account to sign up. Visit OverDrive Help if you need assistance or bring your device to the library for personalized help from our staff.
Kanopy Streaming
Access thousands of movies with your library card at Kanopy.com. Kanopy Streaming offers something for everyone including films, documentaries, dramatic series, and childrens' programming. Simply visit kanopy.com and create a free account with your library card number. Using monthly credits, users can watch a film for up to 48 hours, watch a "bingeable" series for 72 hours, and have unlimited access to Kanopy Kids.
SMCISD Digital Cards
If your child is a student at SMCISD, they already have access to free eBooks, audiobooks, language instruction, and more! Simply use their student ID number as the library card number when signing up for any of our eResources. If asked for a PIN, use the last four digits of their student ID number. You can also limit the maturity level of books your child sees in the library collection. Directions for limiting maturity levels can be found here.
eMagazines
Access Flipster with your library card to check out over 20 different magazines digitally. Back issues are available too! Download the Flipster app to download magazines for reading offline.
ePrinting
Print from your home computer, laptop, or mobile device to the library printers through PrinterOn. Send your documents through the webpage, download the app on your mobile device, or send your black and white document as an attachment to the San Marcos Library. Documents are kept in the printer queue for 12 hours. Please bring coins or small bills to pay for your prints at the library: ¢10 for black and white, ¢40 for color.
New York Times Digital Access
As a member of the San Marcos Public Library you can access the complete New York Times online. The access code for the library's digital subscription provides ongoing access to NYTimes.com from any computer or device, as well as access to apps on portable devices. Email the Library for the free access code.
Mango Languages
Looking to learn a new language? Through the San Marcos Public Library, you have free access to Mango Languages. Mango prepares learners for realistic conversations and strengthens everyday communication skills in over 70 world languages, including English. Simply create a profile, and start your language learning journey!
TexShare Databases
A valuable research tool, the TexShare Databases include access to full-text magazines, newspapers and genealogy materials for customers of all ages. Call the library at 512-393-8200 to get your free login and password.
Learning Express Library
Whatever your goal, Learning Express Library's resources will help you succeed. SAT, ACT, Compass, GED, GRE, THEA and other test preparation materials are provided. Practice for occupational tests such as firefighter, police officer, nursing, CDL, teacher exams and more. Brush up on your computer skills with classes on Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and other Windows-based programs as well as MAC and Adobe applications. This bibliography offers simple digital access to the contents of the San Marcos-Hays County Local History Collection. Indexed materials include news stories, features, and obituaries, as well as birth, wedding, and engagement announcements. The materials themselves are housed at the library.
