Active Older Adult Programs
The San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department is looking forward to resuming in-person Active Older Adult activities. The responses to our survey have helped us develop a plan to move forward with the reintroduction of indoor, in-person events at the San Marcos Activity Center. As we move forward, not all of our programs will be brought back immediately. Some programs will return in the fall. Some programs will be modified to include social distancing and, unfortunately, some programs may not return. However, we plan to offer new programs and establish new partnerships in the future. Please be patient with us as we navigate our way through this unique situation.
Two indoor, in-person programs that will be returning in June are Bingo and a new program, Active Older Adult Group Game Time. To view information about these programs and how to register, please select the program page on the side menu.
All participants in any San Marcos Parks and Recreation Program must agree that they have read and understand the City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department Release and Waiver of Liability and will have to check a box that Constitutes Acceptance of said Release and Waiver. Please click here to view the Release and Waiver of Liability..
For those not ready to attend in-person, indoor Active Older Adult programs, the City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department is still your go to place for recreation, leisure, education, health, and wellness resources through COVID-19. We are committed to ensuring that our community members have the resources to maintain healthy and meaningful lives while they wait to return to in-person events. Please visit our Active Older Adult Virtual Recreation Page and our Virtual Recreation Center for numerous activities, classes, tours and adventures for you to enjoy from the comfort of your own home.
The primary objective of the San Marcos Parks and Recreation Active Older Adult Program is to enhance the quality of life of active, older adults in San Marcos and the surrounding area. Our goal is to promote a healthy, active lifestyle by providing quality informational, educational, physical and social enrichment opportunities.
